ABOUT ME
Who I Am
HI! My name is Dodie Piedimonte and I started Bluegrass Family Visitation to offer children and families a safe, steady place during times of transition and court involvement. My work is grounded in trauma‑informed care, child development, and a deep respect for the experiences families bring with them. I believe children need predictability, calm, and connection, especially when the adults in their lives are navigating conflict or uncertainty.
My Approach
I personally facilitate every visit, giving children a consistent and reliable presence throughout the process. My role is neutral and structured. I hold boundaries, maintain safety, and support the child’s emotional experience without taking sides or offering opinions. Everything I do is designed to create a calm, predictable environment where children can simply be children.
Academic & Professional Background
My work is supported by graduate‑level training in social work, where I focus on trauma, child development, and family systems.
I also bring years of real‑world experience from nursing, clinical research, and family‑support roles. I spent several years as a registered nurse, gaining steady, high-pressure experience caring for individuals and families during vulnerable moments. I later worked nearly a decade in clinical research, contributing to studies in anesthesia, pain management, and cardiovascular care, which strengthened my documentation, ethics, and precision.
In addition to my healthcare and research background, I have worked as a case manager and completed professional training in trauma, addiction, and child protection. These roles deepened my understanding of safety, family systems, and the realities families face when navigating complex situations. As an MSW candidate, my academic work centers on trauma-informed practice, child development, psychopathology, and cultural competence—grounding my visitation work in both clinical knowledge and practical experience.
Why This Work Matters to Me
Families often arrive at supervised visitation during some of the hardest moments of their lives. I understand the stress, uncertainty, and emotional weight that can come with court involvement. My goal is to offer a grounded, steady presence—someone who can hold structure and neutrality so children can maintain meaningful connections with their parents or caregivers. I believe in preserving relationships when it is safe to do so, supporting reunification when appropriate, and reducing conflict so children experience stability and emotional safety.
Service Area
I serve families across Central Kentucky, including Fayette, Jessamine, Madison, Woodford, Scott, and Clark counties. Additional areas may be considered depending on scheduling and case needs.
